Who we are

Curtainly is a trading name of Surrey Shades and Home Solutions Ltd. We design, supply and install made-to-measure curtains, blinds and motorised window treatments across Greater London (within the M25) & Surrey. Surrey Shades and Home Solutions Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 15383877); its registered office, which is not open to visitors, is 114 Colindale Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 5GX, United Kingdom. We work online and do not have a showroom. Surrey Shades and Home Solutions Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. If you have any questions about it, or want to use any of your rights, email us at info@curtainly.uk.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and complete your order:

  • Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and, if you book a visit, the address where the work will take place.
  • Details of your project: photos of your windows, floor plans, measurements, the products and fabrics you choose, and any notes you send us.
  • Order and payment records: quotes, invoices, the measuring deposit and payments you make. We do not collect card details through this website.
  • Messages: what you send us by WhatsApp, email or Instagram, and our replies.

How the enquiry form works

The enquiry form on this website does not send or store anything. When you press the button, it writes a message from what you entered and opens it in your own WhatsApp or email app. Nothing reaches us unless you choose to send that message.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare an estimate or quote, because you have asked us to, before entering into a contract.
  • To arrange the designer visit, make your order and install it, to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep accounting and tax records, because the law requires us to.
  • To deal with aftercare, questions or complaints, and to keep this website secure and working well, because it is in our legitimate interests and does not override your rights.
  • To show photos of finished work on our website or Instagram. We only use photos of your home with your permission, we never publish your name or address, and you can ask us to remove a photo at any time.

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not add you to marketing lists.

Who we share it with

We only share information where it is needed to provide our service:

  • Messaging and email services you use to contact us, such as WhatsApp (Meta), our email provider and Instagram (Meta).
  • Our makers and installers, who receive the measurements and order details needed to make and fit your order, and the address and contact details needed to install it.
  • Our website host, Vercel, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website.
  • Our accountant, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not go ahead: up to 12 months after our last contact.
  • Customer orders and invoices: six years after the work is completed, as required for tax and accounting records.
  • Photos published with your permission: until you ask us to remove them.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not set cookies. If you turn analytics off (see below), a small setting is saved in your browser to remember that choice. Links to WhatsApp, email and Instagram open those services, which have their own privacy notices.

Website analytics

We use Umami Cloud to count visits and see which pages are useful, so we can improve the website. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to identify you. Umami does not set cookies.

Once switched on, it records the page you visit (without any search terms or other text after a “?” or “#” in the address), the website that sent you here, your browser, device type, screen size, language and country. It also records two actions: when a WhatsApp link is clicked (and which part of the site it was on), and when the enquiry form opens WhatsApp. It never records what you type into the enquiry form. Visitors who have Do Not Track switched on are not counted.

You can turn analytics off on this device at any time. This saves a small setting in your browser that tells Umami not to record your visits.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it;
  • object to us using your information on the basis of our legitimate interests;
  • ask us to send your information to you or another organisation in a portable format;
  • withdraw your permission at any time, for example for a photo of your home.

To use any of these rights, email info@curtainly.uk. We will reply within one month. Some information, such as invoices, we must keep by law even if you ask us to delete it; if so, we will tell you.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first at info@curtainly.uk so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
